As a holistic dentist, we are mindful of all of the materials we use: we will never use metal or mercury fillings that can have an effect on your health. Our goal is that when you leave us, you do not only have healthy teeth and gums and a sparkling smile, you are in a good state of overall health.
Holistic dentistry is an approach to dental care in which the mouth, teeth and gums are treated as integrated parts of the body. Instead of focusing only on the problem that is presented, the dentist considers how the problem relates to the patient’s overall health and wellness. In fact, in our holistic dentistry practice in Fort Lauderdale, we prefer to see our patients before problems even arise. Preventative dental care is a big part of what we do. During your dental visits, we will advise you on ways to maintain healthy gums and teeth that also support a healthy overall lifestyle. Poor dental care has been linked to several conditions, such as heart disease and kidney infections, and by practicing good oral hygiene and stopping problems before they start, you can reduce your risk of getting sick. The holistic dentistry approach also recognizes the connection between overall health and oral care. We take the health of our patients very seriously, and we take any wellness concerns into account when we devise our treatment plans and make recommendations.
Dental implants are posts that are inserted in the jawbone, that support prosthetic teeth that look, feel and function just like natural teeth. They are a great option for patients whose teeth have become lost or damaged as a result of illness, injury, or dental decay. The implants fuse with your tissue, becoming an integral part of your jaw. In most cases, they will last for the rest of your life. Not only are implants a permanent solution, they enable you to eat whatever you want, and speak and smile with confidence. You can enjoy implants with no change in your lifestyle, since you brush and floss as you would with natural teeth. At ADW Center, we use Zirkolith ceramic implants by Zsystems, which combine safety and ease of installation with high aesthetics. Unlike titanium, these metal-free implants do not provide an easy surface for plaque to cling to. This reduces the risk of inflammation around the implant. The ceramic implants also allow for natural blood flow, and they counteract natural bone regression in the jaw. Not only are ceramic implants healthier than their titanium counterparts, they look better. There is no risk of visible grey edges or dark metal showing through. Zirkolith implants allow for excellent regeneration of the gum and bone, leading to fast healing. The success rate of this procedure is over 98%.
It is a common misconception that orthodontic treatment is the only way to treat crooked teeth or gappy smiles. While orthodontics is certainly recommended in many cases, sometimes we can address the problem through porcelain veneers in our Fort Lauderdale office. These are less costly and can be applied in just two dental visits. A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is applied to the entire outer layer of a tooth. Whether applied to a single tooth, several teeth in a row, or the entire row of upper or lower teeth, veneers can address problems such as gaps between the teeth, chipped or broken teeth, and teeth that are discolored or mildly crooked. It is not painful, you will not need to take any time off for recovery, and best of all, you will be able to see your results after just two visits. During the first visit, we remove just enough enamel to make room for the veneers. During the second visit, we clean the teeth and then apply the veneers, which are custom-made in a specialized dental laboratory from impressions of your teeth. The end result is attractive and durable.
While some people see orthodontic issues as primarily cosmetic, they can have a significant impact on dental health and functioning. For example, it can be difficult to floss crooked teeth, and improper bites can result in jaw pain and permanent damage to the teeth. The earlier these problems are detected and corrected, the better. It is estimated that between a quarter and half of all children and teenagers receive orthodontic care. Invisalign is not only for kids, though. We provide orthodontics in Fort Lauderdale for patients of all ages. Adults looking for straighter teeth and beautiful smiles can quick results with almost no risk of complications in the gums and teeth. Invisalign braces are a system of clear plastic trays that are placed over the teeth, and that can be removed for brushing, flossing and dental cleanings. In almost all cases where metal braces once would have been recommended, we can instead use Invisalign to correct crooked teeth, gaps, and other orthodontic issues. Using innovative iTero scanning technology, we will clearly show you or your child what the problem is, how the teeth will shift during treatment, and what the end result will be.
Sometimes a tooth can become decayed or damaged to the point where it can no longer work as a normal tooth. This can have impact the appearance and functioning of the teeth, and it can be painful. An easy and safe solution is a crown: a tooth-shaped cap that is placed over the original tooth or attached to a ceramic implant. Crowns are custom-made from strong dental porcelain that can last for ten years or more. They are color-matched to your natural teeth, and they enable you to eat and talk normally. But what about the times when a tooth is too badly damaged for a filling to repair it, but not quite bad enough to warrrant a crown? A custom-made porcelain onlay can be fitted to the chewing surface of your tooth. Not only does the onlay blend seamlessly into the look of your teeth, it can reduce tooth sensitivity and prevent the tooth from decaying further.
Almost everyone believes that the ability to smile is necessary for social functioning. Smiling makes you seem more friendly and approachable, it helps you yield more positive results from job interviews and first dates, and it gives the appearance of confidence and competence. A smile can brighten up anybody’s face, and indeed, their day: psychologists agree that smiling actually does make you happier. Whether your teeth have become discoloured, or you have structural problems like gaps, missing teeth, or overlapping teeth, we will fix your smile so you can have the confidence to show it to the world. If your gum line is uneven, resulting in a gummy smile, we can fix that safely and quickly using laser gum contouring technology. After just one appointment and a few days of recovery time, you will have a brand new beautiful smile that you can show off to the world. Gone are the old-fashioned gum contouring methods that used scalpels and sutures. With advanced laser technology that is designed to work on soft gum tissues, the procedure is comfortable, and bleeding and swelling are kept to a minimum. We look forward to giving you a smile makeover Fort Lauderdale will envy.

Beautiful white teeth is part of a stunning smile. Teeth can become discolored for a variety of reasons, including diet, dental neglect, illness and age. But if your teeth are no longer as white as they once were, that’s no reason for you to not have a confident smile. There are a variety of teeth whitening methods available, and one of the best of these is the KOR system. There are several reasons KOR whitening is preferred by dentists and patients alike: it is virtually pain-free, the results can last a lifetime as long as teeth are properly cared for, and although the results are dramatic, the teeth still have a natural look to them. The KOR system is comprised of clear trays that are custom-made for your teeth. You take these trays home with them and wear them on your teeth in accordance with instructions. In most cases, patients are asked to wear the trays every night for two weeks. Throughout the process, we encourage patients to come in for regular appointments to monitor progress and do in-office whitening touch-ups as needed. If you follow the instructions, you are just two weeks away from having beautiful, glowing teeth.
If you had cavities filled twenty or thirty years ago, chances are that your dentist used amalgam fillings. These were those fillings that had a metallic appearance, and they were made of a combination of silver, tin, copper, and mercury. Mercury made up about half of the weight of the amalgam: a significant proportion when you consider that mercury is considered toxic to humans. Dentists in days gone by used amalgam fillings routinely in the belief that mercury is only harmful when ingested. What we know now is that biting down on amalgam results in mercury vapors being released and inhaled or swallowed. With safe options available, there is no longer any need for amalgam fillings. We are committed to providing top quality mercury free dentistry in Fort Lauderdale. Not only do we never use mercury-based products, we have the specialized training and equipment to remove your existing amalgam fillings and dispose of them in a way is environmentally responsible. We are serious about the safety and protection of our patients and staff, and we adhere to the standards of IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology). All new fillings are made of safe composite materials that are strong enough to withstand regular use, and that are color-matched to your teeth for a realistic, attractive appearance.
If you are experiencing pain in your jaw, your jaws get “stuck” in a particular position, or you hear clicking or popping sounds while you chew, you may have problems with your temperomandibular joint, commonly referred to as the TMJ. Through buccal massage and use of a TENS unit, we can manipulate and relax the facial and oral muscles. Not only will your jaw function efficiently, the buccal massage provides a natural face lift by stimulating your skin to produce collagen and elastin, lifting facial muscles to prevent sagging, and providing lymphatic drainage and detoxification. Facial lines and wrinkles will be reduced and your skin will take on a natural, youthful glow that will make you light up the room. You will leave looking and feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
Microneedling is an injection technique that triggers the release of collagen and elastin into the skin for a rejuvenating effect. It is used to treat scarring, fine lines , and sagging that may be preventing you from having the smile you would like. PRF – or platelet-rich fibrin – is extracted from a sample of your blood, and this is used in the microneedling process. The platelets stimulate the repair of damaged cells in the targeted area, and because we are using natural components from your own body, there is no risk of side effects of rejection. Microneedling with PRF is a safe, natural method of treating scars and skin anomalies. As with our other procedures, we go to great lengths to ensure your comfort during and after your appointment.
When people think of dentists, they think of the teeth. But gums are an equally important part of oral care. Gum disease has been linked to heart disease and various other physical health conditions. We offer periodontic dentistry for Fort Lauderdale residents who are concerned about the condition of their gums. Conditions that call for periodontic treatment include halitosis (bad breath), gums that are swollen, sore or bleeding, receding gum lines, gingivitis, periodontal abscesses, loose teeth and more. During the examination, we do a thorough assessment of the gums and how they work with the teeth, and we recommend procedures such as gum graft surgery, socket preservation, gingivectomy, pocket reduction, tooth extraction, periodontal surgery, and more. By caring for your gums, you can reduce your risk of several medical conditions that have potential to be serious. In periodontics, as with our other services, we place a large emphasis on prevention: we want to see you before problems arise or worsen, so we can help you avoid potentially invasive procedures.
Prosthodontics dentistry is concerned with the design, manufacture and insertion of prosthetic teeth as replacements for teeth that have fallen out, been extracted, or become irreparably damaged. This can be done in several ways, including zirconia implants, bridges, dentures, and full mouth reconstruction. Implants are attached to titanium posts that are inserted in the jawbone. They look and function like regular teeth, and they are permanent fixtures, which makes that the most popular tooth replacement choice. Where implants are not feasible, a bridge may be considered. This is a prosthetic tooth that is not implanted, but supported on both sides by natural teeth. And in some cases, the option that makes the most sense is dentures: prosthetic teeth that are removed for cleaning. Losing a tooth from any cause can be difficult, and we are here to help you through that. Whether you have experienced dental decay or lost a tooth in an accident, we will present you with the prosthodontic options in Fort Lauderdale that are most suited to your specific needs and circumstances.
Everybody deserves a beautiful smile and teeth that are healthy and whole, but sometimes life throws curveballs at us, like accidents that result in teeth being knocked out, rapid tooth decay resulting from some medical treatments, and prior dental work that has outlived its usefulness. The need for cosmetic procedures does not always arise from these causes: sometimes our patients simply want a new look. We are proud to take care of a wide range of cosmetic dentistry needs for our Fort Lauderdale patients, from whitening procedures and veneers to ceramic implants and the restoration of teeth that have become worn or damaged. We can rectify gaps between your teeth, fix gummy smiles, and replace old crowns and unsightly metal fillings with options that will look great and last for years. The best part is that, thanks to technology, we can show you what the end result will look like before we start the work. We take away the guesswork, and you can be assured that you will get the result you are looking for.
Dental decay and gum disease can result in bacteria and toxins entering the bloodstream and causing health issues. The reverse is also true: some medical conditions or treatments can increase your risk of poor dental health. The links between oral health and overall wellness include the following:
